Macroeconomic Committee (MEC) Press Releases
The Macroeconomic Committee (MEC) is comprised of officials from the Vanuatu Department of Finance and Treasury (DoFT), the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu (RBV), and the Vanuatu Bureau of Statistics (VBoS). The MEC is convened to discuss developments in the fiscal, monetary, external, and real sectors of the economy.
At these meetings, MEC officials review and assess information on these sectors to agree on the macroeconomic forecast over a five-year horizon. These forecasts are then used to inform the Government's Budget for the following year.
