Compliance Unit

Objective

The Compliance unit is responsible for providing timely advice on legal issues affecting government financial management and the application of legislative requirements. The unit is expected to liaise with the State Law Office and the Solicitor-General, where necessary.

The core responsibilities and functions of this unit includes but are not limited to the forgoing

  • ensuring that contracts involving the government are properly drafted and so reduce the financial exposure of the government;
  • providing advice that will lead to improved financial management practices, such as on the scope to recover certain debts;
  • Developing a greater level of compliance by all ministries and other government agencies with legislative requirements.
  • It is a further mandate of the Compliance Unit to ensure litigation issues where ever and when ever sought by the State Law Office are provided.
