Welcome to the Asset Registry and Valuation Unit Home Page!

Welcome to the home page of Asset Registry and Valuation. In common with other units within the Department of Finance and Treasury, Asset Registry and Valuation’s mission is to serve the people of Vanuatu to the best of its abilities. In doing so, Asset Registry and Valuation Unit is striving to realize the Government' vision of providing and tracking all the transaction of its assets whether procured or disposed in any way.

Asset key responsibilities are the following:

    • To ensure that all the Government Ministries and other government agencies are recording assets on Smart Stream, in accordance with the Financial Regulations and Finance Guidelines.
    • To ensure that all the Government Ministries and other government agencies are improving the way in which assets are being managed and maintained.
    • To ensure priority is given in ensuring that ministries and other government agencies are recording all high value assets e.g.:
    • (i) motor vehicles (ii)buildings (iii)land (iv)Infrastructures and (v) Others on the assets register as assets are received,
    • In cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, The Asset Registry and Valuation Unit will also prepare guidelines for the management of different classes of assets and require agencies to prepare management plans for the maintenance and, where relevant, replacement of assets, which can then be linked to ministry budgets.
    • Giving support to line agencies in all aspects of the management of different categories of asset – to promote responsible use of assets in order to achieve the objectives that each agency has.
    • Upholding the Public Finance and Economic Management (PFEM) Act [Cap 244]. Asset Registry and Valuation Unit recognizes that meeting these objectives requires a highly skilled and motivated workforce. The Unit is committed to the continual professional development of its staff, both through formal and informally trainings.
